Miller Auditorium and 106.5 WVFM are on a quest to find “West Michigan’s 2017 Drumline of the Year.” Does your high school have what it takes?
From Jan. 20 – Jan. 29, high school marching bands from across the area are encouraged to submit one, 60 second to two minute video of their drumline section to 106.5 WVFM’s website, showcasing their best, most energetic beats and performances. As part of the DRUMLine LIVE performance at Kalamazoo’s Miller Auditorium, on the campus of Western Michigan University, the winning drumline will be recognized on stage in front of a live audience. DRUMLine LIVE takes stage at Miller Auditorium on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 @ 7:30 p.m.
DRUMLine LIVE is recognized for the explosive beats and athleticism they bring to the stage and they want to find the next generation of promising drumline members and percussion enthusiasts. The show expands the marching band experience to audiences across the country with contemporary hip-hop, R&B, classic Motown and brass tradition.
Once all videos are submitted, voting runs online from Monday, Jan. 30 through Friday, Feb. 10. Listeners are encouraged to vote for who they deem “2017 Drumline of the Year!” The more support from friends, family, teachers, fellow students and faculty – the more likely they are to win!
The winning drumline will earn the official title of “West Michigan’s 2017 Drumline of the Year,” and secure 50 tickets to DRUMLine LIVE. In addition, the winning drumline will have the once-in-a-lifetime experience to learn from DRUMLine LIVE during an exclusive sound check and Q/A experience prior to the show. Most importantly, the winning drumline will receive a trophy live on stage and be part of the show at Miller Auditorium in front of hundreds of attendees. The drumline that receives the most votes will perform a 10-15 minute show as the opening act for DRUMLine Live on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 at Miller Auditorium.
This is a great opportunity to showcase the talents of your drumline to an enthusiastic audience at Miller Auditorium and garner exposure among radio listeners and the social media community for your high school.
