Grand Rapids Ballet's Alice in Wonderland
You're invited to take a fantastical trip down the rabbit hole when Grand Rapids Ballet presents Alice in Wonderland live on the Miller Auditorium stage on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. Grand Rapids Ballet presented the world premiere of Alice in Wonderland in 2017 and we're honored to host the Kalamazoo debut of this exciting new ballet next month.
The magical world and colorful characters of Wonderland are imagined by Argentinian visual artist, Luis Grané. Intrigued by the chance to explore the intersection of ballet and animation, Grané—who is best known for his award-winning illustration work on such major motion pictures as The Box Trolls, The Matrix, Hotel Transylvania and Ratatouille—jumped at the opportunity.
This exciting ballet features the choreography of Brian Enos, the artistic director of The Big Muddy Dance Company in St. Louis, Missouri. While known locally as a contemporary choreographer, Brian is just as talented at choreographing classical ballet. The ballet stays true to the beloved novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, which was originally published in 1865.
